Baggage Check

OK, so i though we were all supposed to get a random word and go with it and I got baggage, so I did an airport baggage check. It was kinda a straight forward "DO" without much on planning and research or narrative and seems to have fallen apart as a result. I'm gonna try to do the next one tradition cause computer make things to rigid and lifeless

An article you might interested in reading

Uber illustration, by who I assume to be Scott Caple, but I might be wrong. It could also be Paul Felix. Or a number of people.

I was reading this just now and I thought it might be useful for those interested in getting more indepth with layout and location design.

Or just getting better at it.

New Layout of The Week

Sorry guys, a bit of a delay this week. I've decided that I'm gonna choose the theme again -- however, if you want to, you can use the generator and come up with something yourself, just make sure it's something uncommon and entirely challenging.

By the way I never did the Hipster one, I was too dead. Sorry.

This is another little experiment. I found like three words that could be something good. You can use one of the three, or all of them and try and make some sense out of it:

Crispy, Bosom, Depraved.

Another thing you can try to do is do what Ben and Daphne did, do something that people don't expect you to do -- something out of your normal range. I'm going to do something UPA or something like that, provided i actually do it. Which I will.

market hipsters

I see a ton of hipsters, now that I live in Kensington. I suppose this started as a hipster layout, but ended up more like a comic illustration, ah wellz.

Uuuhhh...

I don't know if this says "hipster"... I highly doubt that it does. But it gave me an excuse to try a city layout. :X

Some Ground Rules --

These aren't actually rules, but guidelines for when you're doing your layouts a week.
You can work in pencil if you want, you don't need a full photoshop painting -- although if you'd rather do that, go ahead.

So basically, Colour or Grayscale, up to you. You can do it traditionally, or digitally (or both). Don't submit more than one, because you're a badass and can pump these out -- it's just one "layout" a week.

I can have up to 100 authors on the blog, so if you want to post your own, let me know, otherwise e-mail your submissions to: layoutaweek@gmail.com

If you ARE participating in this week's layout a week challenge, please comment on this post -- so I know how many e-mails are going to be coming in.

Thanks! And have at it -- and a reminder, this week's theme is: "Hipster"

So go nuts.

Weekly Layout Posts --

Roz S and I decided it was time to create a blog with a weekly assignment to create a layout within a theme, to keep us on our toes.

For this week's theme, I'm using this, to generate a random word for me.

After a few thousand clicks of words that have absolutely nothing to do with anything, I got "Hipster". Have at it.
